Dear stranger,
If you are reading my letter then you are experiencing a difficult time in your life where you may feel that how you feel and think doesn’t matter. It does matter.
You may be felling lonely in those thoughts and I want you to remember that those moments do come and go.
When we feel consumed with our thoughts, it’s difficult to imagine changing that thought but it can be done by using your senses. When you feel like this, think about changing the setting you are in and do something with one of those senses, like a walk somewhere green where you can see nature, smell it and hear it. Listening to some music, eating something nice and noticing the flavours and smells that come from it.
Imagine if you had a friend who is suffering in this way, what would you want them to ask of you? How would you feel if that person was struggling alone? People feel good about themselves when they have an opportunity to help someone else, don’t deny someone the opportunity to do that for you and reach out to them, no matter what time it is.
There are people who care out there and people who want to support you, just find a way to delay what you are currently feeling until you can get that support that you need.
When you feel the self doubt read a letter from here and keep reading until you can ask someone to listen. There are many of us out there prepared to listen. In the mean time I want you to imagine arms around you and holding you until you have the strength to reach out.
Someone that cares x
